I’m Ian Weir, a freelance Senior Product Designer based near London with over 20 years of experience creating digital products, enterprise platforms and AI-powered experiences for global brands including Jaguar Land Rover, EE, Sony, Mercedes-Benz and Barclaycard.

I specialise in turning complex challenges into intuitive, scalable experiences. From early discovery and research through to interaction design, prototyping and design systems, I work across the full product lifecycle — collaborating with teams to create solutions that balance user needs, business goals and technical realities.

Throughout my career I’ve worked with leading agencies and organisations, adapting to different cultures, processes and team structures. I bring a flexible, transparent approach and enjoy working with multidisciplinary teams to solve challenging problems. Design has always been central to my life, from early sketching through to one of the first university degrees focused on digital design. Today, my goal remains the same: to make complex situations feel simple by creating thoughtful experiences that deliver real value for both users and organisations.

Approach

I take a user centred approach that places the creative process at the heart of product development. I optimise the UX strategy to balance the user needs, business goals and engineering feasibility. I adapt processes and tasks, collaborate effectively and can mentor other designers.
